Afghanistan is at the forefront of our hearts with the current news of the Taliban takeover of the country. Rising Worldwide’s (then Rising International) first project was initiated 20 years ago by the heroic work of one woman in Afghanistan. She defied the Taliban and started an underground school for girls. She believed that educating their minds would help keep their dreams of freedom alive in their hearts. Today, those girls are grown, and the education and careers they’ve been able to pursue are under threat once again.
These meaningful bookmarks are made by Afghan refugees in Pakistan. The artisans are using the proceeds to provide critical aid to family members in Afghanistan.
