STORY
Made by a community of women near Guatemala City. La Esperanza, which means Hope, is a squatter settlement located to the south of Guatemala City. This and other nearby communities were established by the arrival of nearly 40,000 people displaced from rural areas during Guatemala’s 42-year Civil War. The artisans experience a number of challenges: illiteracy, poverty, and gang violence. With your help, this project offers them employment, education, and hope.
