The humanitarian crisis in Eastern Europe due to Russia’s war on Ukraine is uniting the world in support of the Ukrainian people. Neighboring countries have graciously taken in thousands of refugees, but are struggling to support them. Humanitarian organizations know that human trafficking targets refugees, and increases during wartime. Because Ukrainian men, aged 18-60, are not permitted to leave the country, women and child refugees are especially vulnerable. Rising has chosen to focus trafficking prevention efforts on the country of Moldova, which has a long history as a trafficking hub.
